The Best Detox Water for a Smaller Waistline
I used to work in a restaurant where my diet consisted mostly of carbs, particularly pizza. This is when I started to notice how THICK my waist had gotten. It wasn’t fat, it was just thick. That’s when a girl I worked with recommended a detox water that helped her lose 10 pounds in one week!
I’m not one to pass up a quick and easy weight loss trick. And I really liked that you can still eat normal while you’re drinking this detox water, as opposed to starving yourself (It takes more than a cube of cheese to keep me from fainting).

The Best Detox Water for a Smaller Waistline:
If you read my post after the holidays, this was the detox water that was meant to help you detox your life in the new year. I try to incorporate this drink at least once a month (particularly that time of the month, when you’re extra bloated).
Benefits of Detox Water:
You may be wondering what’s the point of detox water, it’s just water isn’t it? Wrong. It’s not JUST water. It’s water on steroids (But not real ones that give your roid rage 😉 ).
Drinking a detox water helps to flush your body of toxins that we accumulate through our eating and drinking habits. For me, that means helping clear excess sugar and wine from my body. It can also help with balancing your skin tone and any bloating you’re experiencing.
This detox water in particular is great for bloating and to help you body lose excess water weight.
Try to Drink Once a Month:
I recommend trying to drink this mixture once a month to keep your body healthy. However, if you span longer in between detoxes, that’s ok. I just don’t recommend drinking this detox water for longer than 1 week at a time.
One time, I drank this recipe for 2 weeks and I had adverse effects. Instead of losing water weight, my body decided to start retaining it. So stop after 7 days.
You can still Eat:
Some people confuse a detox water with a cleanse. Although, this will help your body cleanse itself of toxins, it’s not a traditional cleanse. You can still eat, relatively whatever you want.
I say relatively, because if you’re eating all processed foods and drinking heavily every day, you may not experience a slimmer waist. That’s not a detox water issue, but a you-need-to-change-your-diet COMPLETELY issue. Eating out or having the occasional pre-packaged food is ok in small doses, but it shouldn’t be your go to meal. And like that type of food, drinking sugary beverages and excess alcohol is only adding to the toxins in your body.
So try not to put more toxins in your body while you’re trying to remove them.
Detox Water Recipe:
You can make this one of 2 ways: In a single travelers mug like the one below (which is what I use):
Otherwise you can make the detox water in a large pitcher like this one all at once:
You need to drink at minimum 64oz of the water throughout the day. Here’s what you need to put in it:
- Cucumber- Works as a natural diuretic
- Lemon- Loosens toxins in digestive tract & aids in digestion
- Limes- Loosens toxins in digestive tract & aids in digestion
- Orange- Aids in digestion
- Mint Leaf- Adds a bit of sweetness
You will want to put in 2 slices of each the cucumber, lemon, and lime, 1 slice of orange (I cut it in half), and 2-3 mint leaves if you’re using the travelers mug. Throughout the day, you will keep adding water to the cup so that you reach your goal of 64oz.
If you’re wanting to make it all ahead of time in the large pitcher, then you will want to double that recipe. I will advise that the longer the fruit sits in the water, the more bitter it tastes. I would put the orange in the pitcher first and add a couple of extra mint leaves to try to help combat that.
Then you will repeat this drink for 7 consecutive days, staying away from over-processed foods and alcohol.
My friend who told me to start drinking this drink, lost 10 pounds before her wedding when she tried this detox! I didn’t lose that much, but I did lose a lot from my pooch and my waist appeared smaller. So now I drink this often, especially when I’ve been eating poorly or drinking in excess.
